Becoming the owner of a new car is very exciting. Selling that new car is likely the farthest thing from your mind. However, at Executive Dodge Jeep®, your Dodge dealers in CT, we suggest you keep depreciation in the back of your mind.

Depreciation is when your car loses value for whatever reason. There is no way to stop depreciation, but there are a few things you can do to slow it down. One of the major ways of slowing it down is protecting your interior.

Preventative

Often, the biggest culprit when it comes to interior staining is spilling. It can be tempting to eat on the way to work, but you may not even notice a fry that falls here or a splash of mustard there. If you remove the possibility of spills, you don’t have to worry about them happening.

Also, regularly smoking in your car will bring down its value. Not only will the smell linger, the smoke causes discoloration that won’t go away even with cleanings. Ash damage is always a concern as well.

Reactive

Ideally, keeping your car from ever getting dirty in the first place is your best bet. Realistically, people don’t want to feel restricted in their own cars. So, what can you do?

Try to cover as much of the interior as you can. Seat and upholstery covers are much easier to clean than the seats and upholstery themselves. Make use of floor mats that protect the carpet. Make a point of cleaning out your interior every other week or so. It will protect against build up, and regularly tended to leather takes longer to warp.

Even if you have no plans of selling your 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we here at Executive Dodge Jeep think you’ll enjoy driving in a clean interior. It will make the vehicle feel newer, longer.
